Wasserman Schultz, Chu, and Goldman Lead Democrats’ Call for McCarthy to Revoke RFK Jr.’s Congressional Invite

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Washington D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25) Judy Chu (CA-28)  and Dan Goldman (NY-10) led a group of more than 100 House Democrats in calling on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan to withdraw an invitation for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to appear Thursday in front of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, citing Kennedy’s repeated and recent statements which spread dangerous antisemitic and anti-Asian conspiracy theories amid increased violence targeting both groups.

Wasserman Schultz and Goldman both sit on the Weaponization Subcommittee, and Chu chairs the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC).

“We request that you rescind your invitation for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to testify as a witness before the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government on Thursday, July 20, 2023,” said the joint letter led by Wasserman Schultz, Chu, Goldman with organizing help from Rep. Kathy Manning, chair of the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, and signed by 102 House Democrats. “Mr. Kennedy has repeatedly and recently spread vile and dangerous antisemitic and anti-Asian conspiracy theories that tarnish his credibility as a witness and must not be legitimized with his appearance before the U.S. Congress nor given the platform of an official committee hearing to spread his baseless and discriminatory views.”
