President Trump trashed vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris’ performance at Wednesday night’s debate, going so far to call her a Communist.
Asked during a phone-in appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria” how he thought Harris (D-Calif.) performed in her face-off with Vice President Mike Pence, the commander-in-chief said, “I thought there wasn’t even a contest last night. She was terrible.”
“I don’t think you could get worse, and totally unlikable. And she is, she’s a Communist. She’s left of Bernie. She’s rated left of [Sen.] Bernie [Sanders] by everybody, she’s a Communist. We’re going to have a Communist?” the president railed against Harris.
Trump went on to reiterate his view that the 2020 running mate was further to the left than Democratic socialist Sanders (I-Vt.), who is supporting Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
“She’s a Communist, she’s not a socialist, she’s well beyond a socialist,” Trump said.
He told host Maria Bartiromo repeatedly that he believed scrutinizing Harris was important because she would end up being president.
“In my opinion, within a month — look, I sat next to Joe, and I looked at Joe, Joe’s not lasting two months as president, OK? That’s my opinion,” Trump said at one point.
“Biden won’t be president for two months, he’s not mentally capable of being president, everybody knows that,” he remarked, adding, “And this monster that was on stage with Mike Pence, who destroyed her, by the way.”
“Everything she said was a lie,” he quipped.
