M 7.4 Earthquake Smashes Southern Qinghai, China

A very strong magnitude 7.4 earthquake has struck in China, at a shallow depth of only about 10km.
Fortunately, there aren’t many cities or towns anywhere near this particular area, so at present, there are no reports of damage, injuries or deaths.
An earthquake of this size, happening without warning, is a bad sign. Such quakes tend to destabilize entire regions, thus triggering other quakes.
