If You Refuse the Covid Shot You’ll Be Arrested – If You Protest, I’ll Order You Shot Dead — Philippine President

Posted By: George Eaton

After some people in the Philippines defied a coronavirus lockdown to protest a lack of food, the country’s president, Rodrigo Duterte, took to the airwaves declaring that he will order the military to shoot troublemakers dead.

My comment: Duterte has threatened to jail those that refuse the shot, and once they are in jail he said he would personally inject it in their butt. Then he went on to say in some reports that those that need to be rounded up and jailed will receive the Covid shot used for pigs. I read that report in several newspapers. Since many in that country are Muslim, you can imagine how they are feeling about now. This may cause a revolution or assassination attempts on their leaders. GE

Take the Covid-19 vaccine or get put in jail, threatens Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte

Philippines President Duterte lashed out at anti-vaxxers on Monday, threatening to jail those who refuse the Covid-19 vaccine.
He also said he would order officials to inoculate anti-vaxxers with a drug meant for animals…

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to arrest those who refuse Covid-19 vaccines, as the nation grapples with one of Asia’s worst outbreaks.

The Philippines has recorded 1.3 million cases and 23,000 deaths. It has also recorded 17 cases of the delta variant that has been rampaging across India, reported local website Rappler.

“If you don’t want to get vaccinated, I’ll have you arrested then I’ll inject a vaccine into your buttocks,” said Duterte in a televised address on Monday.

“Get vaccinated, or I’ll jail you in a cell,” he said…

“But for as long as you are here and you are a human being and can carry the virus, you should get vaccinated,” he said.

He threatened to keep a record of people refusing vaccinations and inoculate them with Ivermectin, an anti-parasitic drug for animals that is rumored to help treat Covid-19 but is not approved, reported The Philippine Star.

However, Duterte did not provide any legal basis for his orders…

Duterte has previously said he would not obey court rulings regarding his handling of the pandemic after being questioned by lawyers from the province of Cebu.

If his new arrest order is realised, it will be the harshest measure the Philippines has introduced to counter the pandemic so far.

“I will think it over very hard, legally of course, in pursuance of a policy of crisis, this health issue,” said Duterte during the televised speech, according to Rappler.

A spokesperson from his office said on Tuesday that the government would hold off on implementing the these orders until Congress passes a law that allows such arrests, reported the Philippine news site.

The Philippines vaccine rollout has been relatively slow. Only 5.7% of its 110 million population as of Sunday has received one dose. An early May survey by social research organization Social Weather Stations found that only one third of Filipinos were willing to get vaccinated, with the rest citing fears over side effects and that the vaccines are unsafe.

This politician threatened to send unvaccinated people to jail, give them ‘shots intended for pigs’

Rodrigo Duterte, the president of the Philippines, has threatened to send people to prison if they refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“You can choose: you get the vaccine, or I will send you to jail,” Duterte said in Tagalog, an Austronesian language used in the Philippines, during a pre-recorded address on June 21.

After admitting that he is growing exasperated by the “fools” who won’t get vaccinated against the coronavirus, Duerted also threatened to inject them with shots intended for pigs.

The Philippines began its vaccination program in March 2021, but there has reportedly been low turnout at many of the country’s vaccine centers. Of the Philippines’ estimated population of 111 million, only about 2.1 million people (1.9%) had been fully vaccinated by June 20.

At that time, the Philippines had seen about 1.26 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and 23,749 deaths due to the virus, according to the World Health Organization.

In April 2020, Duterte warned that he would order the country’s police and military to shoot and kill anyone who violated a month-long lockdown on the island of Luzon. Since then, there have been several reports of authorities killing alleged violators.

Duterte said those in the Philippines who refuse to get vaccinated should just “leave the country” and go to either India or the U.S.

But these comments haven’t gone over well with Philippines health practitioners.

Harold Chiu, a specialist in endocrinology at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila, said in a statement to Al Jazeera that it is against patient autonomy to force and incarcerate people for refusing the vaccine.

Mia Magdalena Longid, a teacher and registered nurse, told the news outlet it’s unlikely that punishing people will encourage them to get the vaccine, but incentivizing the vaccine likely would.

WHO has said that countries should encourage their citizens to voluntarily get vaccinated but cannot coerce them into doing so if they refuse.
