“I saw a photo of the ship that allowed me to count the rows of containers from side to side, and from front to back. According to my calculations that ship has somewhere between 3,500 and 4,000 containers on it. A semi truck can only haul one of those containers at a time, two at the most, so that’s a hell of a lot of trips if they go that route. The second option of moving the containers from one ship to another, would require some massive equipment to complete that process, which is not at the site of the stranding, and may not even be able to be put near that ship, due to its weight and the instability of the ground. From my view of the mess, they have a very prolonged problem on their hands. I’ve been stocking up on toilet paper as a hedge against a worst case scenario, which I think is what they are facing.”
