The Biden re-election campaign faces a significant problem from its disaffected base who find the president’s policy supporting Israel’s response to October 7th unacceptable.

The message has obviously gotten through to Biden and his team with his tepid effort to rebuke Bibi for Israel’s Old Testament style over-reaction but his calls for restraint may be too little too late to salvage votes among his supporters.

The food aid debacle last week underscores the weakness of Netanyahu’s claim that casualties result because Hamas holds civilians as human shields which was always vulnerable to challenge as an insufficient excuse to justify the disproportionate numbers of dead and wounded.
