Electric companies usually take the blame

Please do not be surprised if the electric company changes its story.

Right now they are claiming that the lines were de energized therefore did not start the fire which is probably true. However, usually .gov will “blackmail” the power company to take the blame.

You see, the power company has to get approval from .gov to raise rates etc. so behind closed doors you can bet that an agreement is being forged right now for the power company to take the blame, clearing .gov of responsibility and for that .gov promises the power company favorable rate increases to cover the costs of the power company settling in courts for damages “because of their negligence”.  .gov and the power companies are usually silent (criminal type) partners. The power company (and schools) are usually the highest paying taxpayers (hidden tax to the consumer) and the largest campaign contributors.

It will be very interesting to see what strong-arm tactics .gov will use to coerce the power company to take responsibility; and, if the Maui electric company can overcome the coercion and prevail with the truth.
