Unvaccinated Florida Renters Threatened With Eviction

Mercola.com

A Lauderhill, Florida, landlord is giving his tenants a choice: Get vaccinated with the COVID-19 shot or move. Renters said they filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services when the landlord, Santiago A. Alvarez, refused to back down on his mandate.

Alvarez controls 1,200 rental units in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. He also ordered all of his employees to get vaccinated or be fired. It’s not clear whether a landlord can legally evict tenants who refuse vaccinations. One person who said they were vaccinated still objected to the comply-or-move edict: “That should be illegal,” the person told the Sun Sentinel. “You can’t force people to do what they don’t want to do.”

Santiago’s attorney said in a memo that the policy doesn’t violate discrimination laws or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ moratorium on vaccine passports.
