Has push finally come to shove? http://stateofthenation.co/?p=57369

Strong rhetoric followed by actions like dispatching warships and mobilizing NATO troops followed by sanctions have escalated tensions to the point where one Russian spokesman stated: “There is nothing left but war!” https://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index3539.htm

Is this what Americans voted for in 2020 when they ostensibly rejected Donald Trump in favor of long time Democratic political operative, Joe Biden? I doubt it!

Totally ignored by the MSM in this dramatic turn of events is the March 24th statement by Ukranian President Zelensky that was tantamount to a declaration of war against Russia.

As a result of that action, US supplying Kiev with increased military aid, Biden calling Putin a soulless killer, large scale NATO training exercises inside Ukraine, Biden dispatching warships to the Black Sea and other provocations by the West, Putin has mobilized up to half a million of his forces:

Although war with Russia is not inevitable, Biden’s reckless escalation of tensions has brought us close to open conflict with them. Thankfully, he has called back our warships but imposing sanctions has obviously added to the sense of threat being experienced by Russia with Putin responding in dramatic fashion. https://www.axios.com/russia-sanctions-solarwinds-cyber-39561a8d-76c0-46ec-9047-6309153d1382.html

These events might readily get out of hand. With Russia Phobic pronouncements continuing from the MSM and leading politicians from both parties, the prospects for a Biden/Putin Summit are diminishing.

UN peace efforts are problematic: Putin likely sees Biden’s bombast as the equivalent of speaking loudly while carrying merely a twig: https://townhall.com/columnists/victordavishanson/2021/04/15/how-to-start-a-war-n2587985

Huffin’ and puffin’ with lots of bluffing by the US president that he will go to war with Russia over Ukraine: that’s the likely assessment by Putin and Lavrov who have countered the Zelensky war declaration with a massive show of force to demonstrate their intentions are for real.

“In order for the West not to interfere and leave it to Ukraine to be devoured, we must show that we are ready for an all-out war,” according to one Russian defense expert.

It’s a sad situation and another demonstration of the need to elevate the role of enhanced peace mechanisms in a world fraught with danger, multiple flash points, economic woes, climate challenges and health concerns regarding the pandemic among other critical issues collectively facing humanity.
